"If you look up the definition of wingman it lists a wingman as: A pilot in a plane that flies just outside and behind the wing of the leading aircraft in a flight formation, in order to provide protective support. My interpretation of this is that they do ‘provide protective support’ in that these smaller canvases, waiting on the sidelines, give me a quick way to decompress after working on larger more complicated pieces. I find them to be whimsical and cheerful and I can really load the paint on in deeply saturated hues, play around with texture and bolder brushstrokes, while keeping them light and airy with room to breathe." - Pia Ledy
